Door-knocking or telemarketing calls can differentiate you from competitors. It is one of the oldest and best recognised proven lead generation methods for APs. And as you know, the higher the number of leads generated, the higher the opportunities. The goal is to create an impact in the minds of customers and build meaningful relationships that lead to mutual outcomes, and brand recognition for your business. However, misconduct across the industry can impact everyone, and leave a bad taste in the mouths of potential customers.

The Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning have taken a step toward better-informing households and businesses about what is expected of APs and their 3rd party agents when conducting advertising practices such as door knocking and telemarketing. And this information is essential for everyone to read. Here are some of the key points highlighted in the fact sheet:

Provision of information:

APs and third-party agents must firstly provide a provision of information, such as telling the customer their name, the name and address of the accredited provider they represent and a full explanation about the purpose of the call or visit.

Adhere to knock and call times:

  • Contact between 9am – 6pm on weekdays (8pm for calls)
  • Contact between 9am – 5pm on Saturdays
  • Not allowed to make contact on Sundays or public holidays
